Earbus Visits Bindoon

In late 2018 Earbus Foundation was invited to visit Edmund Rice Centre in Bindoon and in February our first-ever visit to this historic centre took place. Our Clinical Team of nurses, audiologists, Nurse Practitioner and Data Officers drove the Earbus into picturesque hills of Chittering Valley and spent all day screening and treating Aboriginal and at-risk students.

Aboriginal students attending and residing at Edmund Rice are from all over WA and many have had ear troubles from early childhood. Many attend ERC to study agriculture and learn skills that will take them back to work in their local communities.

Our thanks to School Nurse Celia Hoogland who extended the original invitation and did all the groundwork to make our team feel welcome and productive. She insisted the team stop for morning tea and lunch courtesy of the school – truly a first for Earbus where no-one ever stops if children are waiting to be screened!

Bindoon visits will be every term.
