Build a Bus for the Pilbara
After successfully running Outreach Programs in regional WA for several years, we are looking to support more children in more communities and our dream is to build a custom Earbus to deliver vital services in the Pilbara.
We currently have amazing, highly qualified staff and most of the equipment we need, but to deliver increased outreach services in the Pilbara we need a bus on the road. Currently, the team set up in classrooms, libraries - even server rooms! - in regional and remote communities. This can be time consuming as well as a noisy and distracting environment – not ideal for ear health services! A purpose built bus, adorned with art from local children, not only attracts the kids but is a more clinically appropriate setting for our services. A Pilbara bus will allow more efficient delivery of services and will allow us to see more children and maximise our clinical outcomes, which will in turn enhance the positive health and education outcomes we see in communities currently.
Rates of middle ear disease are extremely high in the Pilbara. Schools, kindergartens, daycares and child parent centres are in desperate need of our services, all of which are delivered in a culturally safe environment via a service model designed by Aboriginal people for Aboriginal people. A bus will allow us to help more kids.
