EARBUS CELEBRATES 10 YEARS OF OPERATION IN 2023

Earbus co-founders Dr Lara Shur, Paul Higginbotham and Dee Parker in 2013.

From humble beginnings around a kitchen table in Wanneroo in April 2013, Earbus Foundation of WA has grown to become one of - if not the - leading ear health service providers in Australia in terms of reach and client throughput.

It started with an idea, a shared passion for social justice and the three unique perspectives of a Teacher for the Deaf, an Audiologist and a Nurse who each knew a simple fact to be true - if kids can't hear, they can't learn.

10 years on, Earbus has delivered more than 100,000 occasions of care in some of the remotest communities in the state, working tirelessly in challenging environments to reduce the incidence  and impact of middle ear disease in Indigenous and at-risk children in WA below the World Health Organisation benchmark of 4%.

At its core, the Foundation is driven by the vision that current and future generations of Indigenous children can succeed at school unhindered by the debilitating effects of this insidious, underestimated and under-treated condition and its impacts upon their ability to learn and achieve to their full potential.
