A Helping Hand to Hear...
Earbus Foundation has partnered with St Patrick’s Community Support Centre in Fremantle to offer free, quarterly hearing clinics to homeless people who may have hearing loss. Earbus Foundation won the Fremantle Impact100 Award at the end of 2019 and it was through this that the relationship with St Pat’s first formed.
Earbus provides experienced audiologists to run the clinic and offer homeless people the same high standard of care they would receive if they were a paying client. The new partnership started in October 2020 once COVID restrictions were eased and at the most recent April 2021 clinic 5 new clients attended and were assessed. Hearing loss can lead to social isolation and also be a significant barrier to employment so for homeless people it can compound already challenging circumstances.
Earbus CEO Paul Higginbotham said “We are in awe of the dedicated team at St Pat’s and the work they do. We are honoured to be able to assist.”
