Audiologist's Tim and Charlotte test the new TOMi Scope at Earbus HQ

Earbus Foundation is excited to take first Australian delivery of a revolutionary ultrasound middle ear analyser developed in the USA, marketed as TOMi Scope. The TOMi Scope is an imaging tool for real time visualisation of the human eardrum and fluid or air within the middle ear space behind the drum.

Clinicians have the challenge to see behind an intact ear drum well enough to confirm the presence of fluid; now the TOMi Scope provides an image of the fluid density and allows physicians to make a more informed assessment of the patient’s condition. It is intended for use by trained medical professionals.

In combination with other testing and technology this holds out the promise of an enhanced diagnostic capacity and accuracy. Earbus will be undertaking research to measure its efficacy and impact.
