Meet Ian Henderson
Earbus Foundation welcomes Ian Henderson as full-time staff member. Ian has been an audiologist since 1986 with the bulk of his career at Australian Hearing as Centre Manager & Manager of International Projects.
Ian spent 17 years delivering services & training to indigenous communities, with an emphasis on cultural differences in the way disability is seen and managed. While in Cairns, he developed audiology outreach for 15 ATSI communities, which was formally recognized by the Australia Day Council & Queensland Health. Ian used a Churchill Fellowship at McGill University to study similar programs in Canada.
Ian’s audiology consultancy for “Do You Hear What I Hear” CD ROM won Australian newspaper/University of Sydney Award for Educational Publishing. He also won the AMA’s Wyeth Award for Best Published Research of the Year.
